What We Do for the Community

The Chamber is truly committed to improving the town in which we live and work. Our hard-working, "hands-on" Board of Directors volunteers their time and resources to make a difference. It is the combination of their hard work and the funding from membership funds from local businesses that make the following possible:

National Rooster Crow

Each June, Rogue River hosts the National Rooster Crow Competition. This weekend-long celebration brings visitors from all over the northwest. Fun, food, and entertainment make this weekend a must-attend for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to the actual Crowing Competition (yes, over fifty roosters actually do line up and compete to see who can crow the most times in a 30-minute competition), there is a large parade, free entertainment for children, food booths, arts and crafts, vendor booths, the "Human Crow" competition, and live bands.

The National Rooster Crow Championship is annually held the last Saturday in June. To see the date for this year's Rooster Crow Championship, please see our Calendar of Events.

Rooster Crow Car Show

Every year, the Chamber hosts the Rooster Crow Car Show on the Sunday of Rooster Crow weekend. This popular event has grown into a major event in its own right!

Downtown Christmas Decorations and Lighting Ceremony

December brings Christmas and with it our community's lights and decorations. The Chamber hangs decorations on the power poles in downtown Rogue River and strings over 150 LED light strands in the downtown plaza bringing holiday spirit and cheer to Rogue River.

The lights get officially turned-on during our annual Plaza Lighting Ceremony in early December to help get the community together for the holidays.

Here's a video of the 2011 Christmas Lighting Ceremony by Rogue River's own local videographer Randy Johnson. Thanks Randy!

Miss Rogue River Scholarship Pageant

Each June the Chamber sponsors the Miss Rogue River Scholarship Pageant. This event helps young women develop their leadership, presentation, and performance skills in a confidence-building environment. It also lands the 1st place winner $1,250, 1st runner up $500, and the 2nd runner up $250 in scholarship funds that the winners may use at the University or school of their choice.

Crab Feed

Each year the Chamber hosts a Crab Feed. This fun event brings the community together and helps raise funds to make the Rogue River Scholarship Pageant possible. There are raffle prizes, fun, food, laughter and live music. Wine tasting by different local vineyards and beer provided by the local Homestead bar.

Seats are always limited and often sell out early! Plan to join us for this great annual event! You won't want to miss out.

Funding Local Initiatives

In addition to helping make possible the events listed above, the Chamber also sponsors other local non-profit organizations and events. Examples include the Rogue River Greenway, Ride the Rogue Event, and Local Schools.
